PR, marketing, and communications

andymilk | July 13, 2009

We do that now too!

In conjunction with Elastic Communications, we’re now offering a wide range of public relations, marketing, and communications services. Elastic was the driving force behind all the press received and money raised for the Rock n’ Run benefit event this past spring.

Elastic and Andy Milk Interactive are currently knee-deep in work on the relaunch of Calisto100.com. Stay tuned!

Some solid quotes on start-ups

andymilk | May 21, 2009

Found this quoted & linked on Signal vs. Noise:    http://venturebeat.com/2009/04/29/10-lessons-from-a-failed-startup/

They loved this quote:

If you review your first site version and don’t feel embarrassment, you spent too much time on it.

I’m a fan of these couple:

I would also avoid money pits like PR firms, CPM ads, billboards, and TV/radio spots.

and

What’s new for me is painfully experiencing the gap between knowing and doing. Advice is thrown liberally around the Valley, but like a surgeon who has studied but never practiced, I think it takes a lot of hands-on experience to learn intricacies and exceptions. I think advisers should more often say, “You probably won’t get what I’m saying until you screw it up.” Expertise takes time, and pithiness comes with a cost.

Thought-provoking stuff here.  In the spirit of Agile Development, these guys promote making something tangible without nailing every detail down first.  Amen!

Donate to help a friend

andymilk | October 15, 2007

A good friend of ours, Jonny P, was mugged outside of Bill’s Bar a couple weeks ago. He suffered a severe head injury and has spent some time in the hospital recovering. He’s back on his feet now but he has some steep medical bills, in addition to lost money from missing work. There are a few benefit shows going on, but we wanted to give people an additional way they can contribute. You can send some money through PayPal (with any valid credit card) to help him out.

Instead of going out to eat this week, send some cash to the fund. (you can change the amount if you’d like, every little bit helps)

Thanks,
Andy
